Yes, the Sierra Leone Police & the Ministry of Information and Civic Education have published 2 different variances in the numbers of people that have been declared wanted following Sunday’s attempted coup.

SLAJ-iVeriy has flipped through the various lists of people wanted by the Sierra Leone Police & the Ministry of Information and Civic Education and found the lists circulating on social media to be inconsistent and misleading. Both carry different totals of fugitives.

Claim

Misleading totals of published fugitives: The Ministry of Information & Civic Education and the Sierra Leone Police are peddling 2 different numbers of people wanted following Sunday’s attempted coup.

Rating Justification

Since 26th November’s attempted coup, a couple of lists of fugitives that are believed to be connected to same have been published.

SLAJ-iVeriy has noticed that there is a difference in the total number of these fugitives that have been published by the Sierra Leone Police and the Ministry of Information and Civic Education.

The Sierra Leone Police in their official Facebook page have 30 people in the list. However one face appears twice with one labelled as Alimamy Osman Kamara and another as Saccoh Kamara.

Contrarily, at the Ministry of Information and Civic Education’s press briefing, the Minister of Information Chernor Bah called out a list that totalled 33 names which is more than the names coming from SLP.

29 of the 33 identities were captured on the official list that the Ministry of Information published. 4 of those names were omitted from the official list published by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education.
