The fact-checking process has confirmed the authenticity of the statement, with both political parties verifying its accuracy and confirming their signatures on the document.

A statement carrying the logo of both the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) claimed that both parties have united to fight hate speech and promote peaceful political discourse.

SLAJ-iVerify has fact-checked the statement dated 3rd June, 2024 and found it to be true.

To arrive at this conclusion, SLAJ-iVerify contacted the National Secretary Generals of both parties who confirmed the press statement is authentic.

“It is 100% correct. The SLPP and the APC have been working on this for a while now. I have full evidence. We both signed the document yesterday and we released it,” one of the Secretary Generals, Umaru Napoleon Koroma from the ruling SLPP told SLAJ-iVerify.

APC Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya Esq also confirmed the statement’s authenticity.
