SLAJ iVerify has fact-checked the above claim and found it to be true. To arrive at this conclusion, SLAJ iVerify visited the Facebook page of the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC) and extracted a video containing the commencement of the mediation session at the Bintumani Conference Center in Freetown.

We analyzed the said video and found it to be authentic. A link to the said video has been placed in the “evidence” section of this piece.

Our Fact Checking Hub also spotted a letter addressed to the APC Party regarding the mediation process. We cross-checked the said letter and found it to be authentic.

We contacted the Executive Secretary of the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC), Hawa Samai who similarly confirmed that the letter was authentic, adding that the peace mediation is in progress at the Bintumani Conference Center.
