SLAJ iVerify has fact-checked a press release making rounds on social media, claiming that the Ministry of Employment, Labor and Social Security signed an MOU with foreign countries for the recruitment of migrant workers from Sierra Leone and found it to be false.

Rating Justification

SLAJ iVerify Network of Fact-Checking Desks has fact-checked this press release’s contents and found it false. To arrive at this conclusion, SLAJ iVerify contacted Aminata Phidelia Allie, Government Information Officer, Ministry of Employment, Labor and Social Security who said the release was fake.

Using a few open-source forensic tools, iVerify similarly analysed the press release and found that it lacks the official stamp and signature of the Ministry of Labour.

Furthermore, the Ministry always gives an update on its activities via its official Facebook account and the said press release has never been uploaded to its page.
